WAKEFIELD ARTWALK AT THE HEPWORTH : OnWednesday 28 September 5.00-9.00pm. Relax and enjoy art after hours with special performances by Wakefield Jazz Duo, Russell Henderson on tenor saxophone and Jamie Taylor on guitar. Together the duo will exploit the axe ‘n’ sax possibilities in a contemporary jazz context, playing both originals and standards

QUEENS DIAMOND JUBILEE : I’ve been asked to get involved in some of the events that wil take place to celebrate Queens Diamond Jubilee and I would welcome any good suggestions that brings the whole community together. I will update details of local event as soon as I get any details but hoping that it will be a year to remember.

SUPPORT FOR SUSAN McNICHOLAS : Susan is a friend of mine from my days playing snooker at Wakefield Snooker Centre on Market Street. Susan is has taken up martial arts and is fighting at Balne Lane WMC Saturday 24 September against someone from York and I would like to ask all those friends from the good old days to come and cheer Susan on. Tickets are £15 each but if you go in a group of four you only pay for three tickets.

ALLOTMENT FUNDRAISER: There will be an open day at Woodcock Street Allotments, Agbrigg, tomorrow (Saturday) from 1pm-4pm. Plants, produce, bric-a-brac, refreshments, cakes and pie and peas will be on offer to raise money for Kidz Aware and a charity which supports carers and mental heath sufferers. Also take a peak at a hay bale eco-build and polytunnel. The allotments are off Sugar Lane, opposite Howarth Timber Ltd. For further details contact Maggie Brown on 01924 862862.
