BME Ladies Carers Group: Are you a carer from the BME (black and minority ethnic) community who looks after a relative or friend who is ill or disabled. The BME Ladies Carers Group has recently been set up to enable unpaid carers to get information, have a chat, tea and coffee with others who understand the pressures of caring for a relative or friend. ST CATHERINE’S CHURCH: Services Sunday October 16, 9am communion (said), 10.15am communion for all with children’s group. Refreshments to follow. Celebration of 400 years of the King James’ Bible with a Bible readathon on Monday, OCtober 17 at 7.30pm and Wednesday, October 19 at 10.30am. Community cafe open Mondays-Fridays, 8.30am-2pm where two-course meals, drinks and snacks are available. For those unable to come alone free transport is available, call Lisa to arrange this. The church is taking part in Operation Christmas Child, filling decorated shoe boxes with gifts to send to children in other countries. If you can donate a filled box or items to go into boxes, bring them to church any day. Murder mystery evening, with three-course meal. YOUNG AT HEART GROUP: Young at Heart group is a group for men and women over 55, guests also welcome. It meets every Thursday at the community centre 1.30pm-3.30pm. The meeting on October 20 will be assorted films. For further information ring the community centre 01924 303337 .

THORNES HOUSE REUNION: Thank you to everyone from Thornes House School from the year of 1983 who attended last week’s reunion at Wrenthorpe WMC.It was another fabulous night and I would like to say a big thank you to the friends who came for the first time time this year, it was lovely to see you. We are having a reunion part three around same time next year and then a big one to celebrate the 30th anniversary since we left, in 2013. I would like to thank Richard Leather for his help, Karen Turl, who came and gave me a great surprise, Lindon, Gary, Katrina, Becky, John, Julia and Dave Marsden for making it a great night once again.
