CHRISTMAS FAYRE: Tickets are available from Leonard Bartle 01924 830220 for the Church in West Bretton Christmas Fayre next Friday, December 2 from 6pm to 8pm. Tickets are £2.00 (including mulled wine/coffee and mince pies). Stalls will include cakes, books crafts and gifts and there will be a chocolate tombola. CHRISTMAS CRAFTS AND GIFTS: Newmillerdam Community and Conservation Association are holding a Christmas Craft and Gift fair on Sunday, December 4, from 1pm to 4pm.  TASTE AND SEE: Preparations are in hand for this year’s Advent Programme at Saint James. Sessions will be held every Monday at Saint James Chapelthorpe at 7.30pm and begins on Monday, November 28 with “Touch and See” The Rev Alan Shaw, Monday, December 5 with “Come and See” The Rev Canon Ian Gaskell, Monday, December 12 at with “Enabling Christ” The Rev Canon Roger Cressey.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE 2: St James Playcare are holding their Christmas Fayre on Saturday, December 10 between 2pm - 4pm at St James School. All proceeds are going to local charities, there will be tea/coffee, tombolas and Christmas raffles everyone welcome to come along and join the fun.

CHURCH IN WEST BRETTON: Last Sunday, Paul Bridges from Penistone conducted Morning worship at the Church in West Bretton. Lessons were read by Diana Franklin and Christine Robinson. Sidesperson was Christine Robinson and Leonard Bartle was Steward. Organist was Peter Bowers. Church flowers were provided by George Hill. This Sunday at 10.30am Canon Stephen Kelly will be Celebrant and Preacher for Holy Communion. GREENER GALS: Last Saturday night around 70 people enjoyed a wonderful concert at the Church in West Bretton given by the Greener Gals, Pam Greener, Sue Murray and Carole Pickett. With witty songs from Pam, a combination of traditional music and jazz from Sue, and folk and guitar music and lyrics from Carole, the programme was much appreciated by the audience. It was a joint concert to aid the Wakefield Cathedral Project 2013 and the Church in West Bretton. The Cathedral will receive £450 and the Church in West Bretton £309 from part of the proceeds and the raffle. Sweet puddings were served at the interval and thanks must be extended to everyone who made puddings and to everyone who supported the event. Canon Stephen Kelly gave a vote of thanks. BOWLS PRESENTATION: Tonight in the Village Hall West Bretton Bowling Club will have its Annual Bowls Presentation at 7.30pm. There will be a talk and video presentation by Roger Fitzgerald, following his lone sailing exploits and a buffet supper, with a raffle and a quiz. OVER 50’S ANNUAL PARTY NIGHT. Tomorrow night at 7.30pm the Bretton Over 50’s Club will hold its Annual Party Night, Disco and Dance in the Village Hall. Tickets are £8.00 including buffet supper.
