BLOOD: Over one hundred people attended the two sessions last week in the Community Centre for the donation of blood. Ninety three patients were bled which included six new donors. The next session at the centre will be on Monday, March 12 2012.

TOTS N BABES: Resumed their meetings this week at Shay Lane Primary School when face painting, crafts and spooky Halloween activities took place.
FOR YOUR DIARY: Crofton Art Club will stage their exhibition and sale on November 12 and 13 at Crofton Junior School, from 10am until 4pm.
FISHING: Members of Crofton Fishing Club are reminded to meet on Monday, November 7 at 7pm in the Crofton Parish Council Centre in the High Street. All welcome.
COUNCIL SURGERY: Coun Maureen Cummings and Coun Albert Manifield will be holding a surgery today in the Crofton Parish Council Centre starting at 10.30am until 11.30am, and then again tomorrow morning 10.15am until 11am in the Crofton Library. No appointment needed.
MOTHERS: Twenty two members enjoyed decorating two cup cakes at their meeting last week. Mrs Yvonne Berns donated the decorations and judged the winners who were Doreen Woodcock, Margaret Winn and Eileen Sutton. Booby winner was Barbara Holden. Raffle winners were Kath Gough and Jan Giles. The next week is an Avon evening on Thursday November 10 hosted by Linda Waite.

ENGLAND CALLING: Josh Shaw, a year eleven pupil at Crofton Academy has been selected for the England Cricket Development Squad for the 2011 intake programme.
NEW CLUBS: Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Crofton library will be running an after school Homework Club for students, where they can browse amongst the many resources which are available. On Tuesdays staff from the Crofton Academy will be running an after school games club in Crofton Library. Parental permission forms must be completed for participants who will be visiting on a regular basis
ALL SAINTS: A service for families takes place on Sunday at 10am.

READING: Members of the Crofton Reading group met in the library this week to meet Yorkshire playwright Michael Yates, whose recent play “The Bronte Boy” about Branwell Bronte’s life, has recently toured parts of Leeds, Halifax, Bradford and Wakefield. The male lead from the play won the Best Actor at the recent Wakefield Festival. Copies of the play were available for members to buy. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 7.
BAND: Crofton Silver Band are now preparing for the Royal British Legion Remembrance Parade at South Kirkby on Sunday, November 13.
ACADEMY: Pupil Voice students from Crofton Academy are preparing for their visit to the Houses of Parliament on Friday, November 11.
