SERVICE: At St Swithun’s community centre on Sunday at 10.15am the Third before Advent Holy Communion Service will be led by the Rev Dawn Ingham, preach John Milne, readings taken from Thessalonians and Matthew will be by Ali Brooks and prayers for the church, community and world will be by Diane Bunting. Refreshments will be served following the service and everybody is welcome.
SIMPLY LEISURE: At St Swithun’s on Monday from 1pm-3pm Simply Leisure will stage a Court Mock Trial. Entrance is £1.50 and includes refreshments that will be served during the meeting and everybody is welcome.
LITTLE FISHES: At St Andrew’s church on Thursday from 9.15am-11.30am the Little Fishes group for toddlers, mums and carers will meet. Entrance is £1 per child and includes toast, fruit and drink and everyone is welcome.
COMMUNITY CAFE: At St Andrew’s church the Your Space community cafe is open Monday - Thursday for light lunches, snacks and homemade products. Your Space is also available for funeral teas, parties etc, enquire at the cafe.
EASTMOOR ANGLING: The last two matches of this season are fast approaching and they are to be held on Sunday, November 20 and Sunday, December 11. Both of these are to be held on the Canal. The draws for these matches will be at 7.45 am and fishing from 8.15am until 12.15pm.
ZUMBA: Try the new fitness craze. It’s fun and funky. Dance your way to a fitter you. It runs every Thursday from 4.45pm – 5.45pm. For more information contact St Swithun’s Community Centre on 01924 361212.
ADULT EDUCATION: Classes at St Swithun’s Community Centre are as follows : Arts & Crafts, Computing, Counselling, Embroidery and Beaded Treasures, English, Employment Skills, ESOL ( English for speakers of other languages), Health & Social Care, Maths, Mosiac, and Yoga. TRINITY SERVICE: The 10.45am service at Trinity Methodist church on Sunday will be led by Mr Donald Woolley of Ossett. At 3pm Rev Naomi Kaiga will lead a special service - Remember a Life - at which anyone recently bereaved may come and reflect on the life of a loved one and light a candle in remembrance. There will be no evening service at 6pm.
THURSDAY CLUB: Last Thursday, the Thursday Club were invited to go on a Journey to the End of the World. This was a talk and Power Point presentation given by Mrs Kath Padget on her recent trip which included the Falkland Islands, and Argentina. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience and refreshments were served afterwards.The next meeting is on Thursday, November 10 at 2pm when Mr Donald Woolley will speak on the Mission Aviation Fellowship.
