COFFEE: You are invited to coffee morning at the Salvation Army Centre next Wednesday morning from 10am to noon in aid of Horbury and Ossett Senior Citizen’s Action Group. Also on sale will be delicious home made cakes.

ANTIQUES: An antiques and collectables fair will be held at St John’s Church tomorrow from 10am to 4pm. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

PRIDE: Pride in Horbury Bridge are holding their monthly meeting at the Bingley Arms on Tuesday, October 4 at 7.40pm. Anyone who would like to join them to discuss ways of improving Horbury Bridge in a friendly and sociable atmosphere are welcome to go along.

HISTORICAL: On Wednesday, October 5 Horbury Historical Society are meeting in the Library at 7.30pm. The Very Rev George Nairn-Briggs will present ‘Maundy, The Queen’s visit to Wakefield’. The annual subscription to the society is £7.50 but guests are welcome at a charge of £2 per meeting.

POLICE: The local priority meeting with our Neighbourhood Police Team was held on Thursday, September 22 in the library. The meeting was attended by A/PS Easter, PCSO Firth, Councillor Jesty and ten members of the public. The work done by Road Traffic Officers and by the NPT to monitor speed in Horbury will continue with speed checks on Southfield Lane and Benton Hill. There had been no calls to the police regarding anti-social behaviour in Carr Lodge Park. However there has been a number of calls regarding anti-social behaviour on Manorfields Green Park and Green Park Avenue. The NPT will continue to patrol this area and engage with the local youths. The priorities set for the next six weeks were decided as speeding in and around Horbury Town Centre and anti-social behaviour around Manorfields Estate, Green Park and Green Park Avenue.
