CAROLS: A warm welcome awaits at St Peter’s Church on Sunday for a carols and candles at Christmas service at 6pm.

FAIR: The 8th Wakefield Scouts are holding a Christmas fair tomorrow in the scout hut in Horbury Bridge 11am to 3pm. There will be a variety of stalls, including handmade cards, jams and chutneys, Christmas-themed cakes and buns, jewellery, second hand books, bottle tombola, tuck shop, rock shop, games, raffle, coffee and mulled wine. All money raised to go to the new building fund.

HOCKEY: Last Sunday saw the third tournament of the Slazenger U10 boys hockey at Wheetwood, Leeds. The boys had some touch matches, playing against newly-demoted and promoted teams. All the team contributed to some great play in extremely wet and cold conditions to finish fourth in their division.

BOOK: On Monday, December 19 from 11am to 1pm Rickaro Books have Sharon King signing copies of her new book, The Unfinished Stories, illustrated by her daughter Rose King. Sharon has recently appeared on BBC The One Show and Breakfast. The book is written to raise funds for the National Autistic Society and £1 from every sale will go to the Society. Go along and meet Sharon who is amazing, and the book makes a great Christmas gift at only £4.99.
