ARTHRITIS CARE GROUP: The next meeting of the Wakefield Rural Arthritis Care Group is on Thursday, December 1 at 10am at Hall Green Community Centre. The theme will be Christmas Crafts.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT: A Christmas Concert in aid of Wakefield Hospice is to be held at St James’ Church on Friday December 2 at 7pm.There will be performances by Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band and Hendal J&I School Choir. Tickets £3 includes mulled wine and mince pie. Pay at the door. Accompanied children FREE! Everyone welcome.

DURKAR WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: Christmas Dance to be held at West Wakefield Methodist Church, Thornes Road, Wakefield on Friday, December 2 from 7pm – 10pm. Admission £5.00 including refreshments. Spot prizes and raffles. Strictly for fun. Definitely no judges so come along and enjoy yourselves. Everybody welcome.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: The Friends of Sandal Castle are holding their first AGM in the Sandal Castle Visitor Centre on Saturday, December 3 at 3pm. New members, young and not so young will be welcome, as will anyone interested in preserving and promoting the castle for future generations. Janet McNaught Secretary of the Friends of Pontefract Castle is the guest speaker: Refreshments will be served. Please come and celebrate our historic monument and be part of its future.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE: The Ladies Group are holding a Christmas Fayre at Saint John’s Calder Grove on Sunday, December 4 at 2pm. Everyone is welcome!

DAY OF ACTION: Hall Green & Painthorpe Community Day of Action is on Wednesday, December 7 and starts at 9.30am. In response to what you’ve been telling us, staff from WDH. West Yorkshire fire service and other partner agencies would like to work with you. We are keen to use your local knowledge and ideas to make sure we target the right areas on the day or in our future plans. HALL GREEN COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION: The next meeting of Hall Green Community Association is on Wednesday, December 7 at 7pm at Hall Green Community Centre.

HALL GREEN UNITED: This Saturday Hall Green United are at home to Storthes Hall FC and the Reserves are away at Littletown Reserves. Both matches are in the West Riding County Amateur Football League and kick off at 2pm.

KETTLETHORPE AGED WELFARE CLUB: Members gathered on Wednesday on a double celebration for our two senior members, Vice President Ronnie Peters on reaching his 95th Birthday and hard working Gerald Wells, Secretary/Treasurer his title, although for many years he has worked tirelessly and still does, as he celebrates his 86th Birthday. These two wonderful men, both long serving members are loved and respected by all.
