PLAY CLUB: All babies and toddlers, and their carers are invited to join the play club at St James’ Church, Denby Dale Road. The club is held every Tuesday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am.

BONFIRE AND FIREWORKS: Wakefield St Michael’s Cricket Club is having a bonfire and fireworks night at the cricket ground on Dewsbury Road/Cross Lane on Friday, November 4 from 6.30pm. Refreshments are available. All children attending must be accompanied by an adult.

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED: Re-Connect, the charity working with older people in the community, is recruiting volunteer drivers. If you are unemployed and want to gain valuable training and skills you could consider volunteering to drive Re-Connect’s minibuses. All training is given. CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING: Bethany House Healing Centre welcomes you to a pre-Christmas coffee morning on Saturday, November 12 from 10am to noon, at West Wakefield Methodist Church, Thornes Road. Admission is £1, which includes tea, coffee and biscuits. Stalls will include jewellery and craft, cakes and mince pies, tombola and bric-a-brac. Bethany is a registered charity which aims to provide a safe place for people who are going through emotionally difficult times in their lives. WEST WAKEFIELD METHODIST CHURCH: The preacher on Sunday at 10am is David Curtis. Rev Tony Walton is the preacher at 6pm and the service will include communion. The Bible fellowship group meets on Monday at 7.30pm. Ray Helm will speak about people trafficking at the Ladies’ Group on Tuesday at 7.30pm. The Women’s Fellowship meets on Wednesday at 2.30pm when Mary O’Donnell is the speaker.
