CHRISTMAS FAIR: St James’ Church, Denby Dale Road are having their Christmas Fair tomorrow from 2pm – 4pm. Christmas gifts will be available and also a cake stall, stocking fillers, and many more stalls. Refreshments will be served. Santa Clause will be attending.
BAND CONCERT: You are invited to West Wakefield Methodist Church, tomorrow at 7pm to a concert by Horbury Victoria Brass Band, runners up in a recent National Band Competition. Tickets are £5 adults, £3 children, pay at the door.
HOSPICE: A Christmas coffee morning is being held on Saturday, December 3 at West Wakefield Methodist Church from 10am – 11.30am, organised by the Lupset and Thornes Fundraising Group of Wakefield Hospice. There will be a raffle, cake stall, tombola, book stall, Hospice Christmas cards. Admission 50p. Everyone welcome.
MAMMALS IN CHaT PARKS: The next public meeting for Friends of Clarence, Holmfield and Thornes Park will be held on Wednesday, November 30, at 7pm. Gareth Parkinson, a local ecological expert, will give a presentation of Mammals in the Parks, Present, Past and Future. Anyone with an interest in the parks is welcome to attend. As this will be the last public meeting to be hosted by the Friends Group before Christmas, there will be a general knowledge quiz on aspects of the parks with prizes and a Christmas raffle.
WEST WAKEFIELD METHODIST CHURCH: 177 shoe boxes were filled and despatched this week bound for children in Swaziland through the Operation Christmas Child Project. The Autumn Fair takes place tomorrow from 10.30am – 1.30pm with various stalls and refreshments served throughout including light lunches. Admission is free. The preacher on Sunday at 10am is Rev Michael Jones of Ossett. There will be no evening service at the church as there are alternative types of worship at three other Methodist Churches in the Aire and Calder Circuit. The Church Life Committee meets at 7.30pm. The Ladies’ Group is having a jewellery party by Mandy Day on Tuesday at 7.30 pm. Doreen Rowley is the speaker at the Women’s Fellowship on Wednesday at 2.30pm.
