PARISH GALA: Thanks to all that helped or attended the parish gala on Saturday, July 16, approximately £1,400 was raised.

PARKSIDE METHODIST CHURCH SERVICES: Services on Sunday, July 24 will be led at 10.30am by the Rev Naomi Kaiga and by the Rev Richard Oldroyd at 6pm.

NEWTON HILL CRICKET CLUB: Members were surprised and delighted to find their club featured in a national sports magazine. The story pays tribute to the work done in supporting junior cricket, by coaching local youngsters.

FIBROMYALGIA SUFFERERS: The Wakefield and District Fibromyalgia Support Group has activities and throw a lifeline to sufferers within the Wakefield district. Awareness events are currently being planned over the next year throughout the Wakefield district, details on the website.

THEMED SURGERY: Coun Charlie Keith is holding a themed surgery on healthcare and the NHS today at Outwood WMC, Ledger Lane, Outwood, from 5pm. This may also include issues surrounding social care and the growing concerns for the elderly and vulnerable in our society, and is open to anyone from across the ward. The surgery is part of a consultation period which will culminate with an invited “coffee and conversation” session held by Ed Balls in Stanley on Thursday, July 28. 

PACT MEETING: Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting takes place on Thursday, August 18 7pm-8pm at Outwood Memorial Hall. Lofthouse Colliery and Railway Terrace are remaining priority areas and any incidents need reporting on the non-emergency number 0845 6060606. The areas will be monitored for ongoing anti social behaviour issues / sex in vehicles / drugs / underage drinking, etc.
