PARISH COUNCIL NEWS: There are two vacancies for the parish council. Anyone interested should contact the parish clerk, Janet Hull, on 255628. The councillors were pleased to hear that the Dam footpath had been re-cut after the complaint that the path was being encroached by weeds and long grass that had not been attended to. The Dam car park has also been cleared, so the weeds and overgrowth have now been cut back. The clearing of the Dam car park has been put on the grass cutting contract we have with Wakefield Council and so should be done regularly in the future. It has been reported that some of the drains along the middle road are blocked up. The situation has been reported to the highways department which appears to be working in some parts of the village clearing drains.
DISTRICT COUNCILLORS NOTICE: District councillors Graham Isherwood and Richard Taylor would like to inform the people of Sharlston, New Sharlston and Streethouse that both councillors attend the coffee mornings at Sharlston Community Centre every Saturday morning from 10.20am onwards. If anyone has a problem or needs advice from the district councillors they would be pleased to help them as best they can. Do call into the coffee morning to see them. They will also visit you in your home if necessary.
