COFFEE MORNING: The Community Centre will host the coffee morning on Saturday, November 5 at 10am in Sharlston Community Centre. Come along and enjoy a bacon butty and refreshments. There will also be a visit from Edinburgh Woollen Mill who will be offering a discount on the day.
GOLDEN OLDIE MUSIC: The villa club will hold a golden oldie music night and karaoke every second Saturday. The next one will take place on November 5.
SHARLSTON RUGBY: There were good wins for both teams last Saturday. This weekend the first team are away to St Josephs – the bus leaves at 12 o’clock. The A team are at home to Selby. Both matches kick off at 2pm. On Sunday, November 6 Yorkshire under 17s play Lancashire under 17s at Sharlston. Kick off at 2pm. In the club house on Saturday night there will be a male vocalist Jon Alex.
THANKS: Sharlston Rovers would like to say a big thank you to all who donated prizes and came along and supported their coffee morning on Saturday, October 15. Special thanks go to Jean, Frances, June, Edna, Wendy, Angela and Norma for all their hard work. A total of £266.92 was raised.
SCHOOL NEWS: A big thank you to Clems for providing transport free of charge for the Year 6 children who visited Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on October 19. From Monday, November 14 there will be an Anti Bullying Week.
PARISH COUNCIL NEWS: The Lidgett pathway is soon to be inspected by WMDC Footpaths and Bridleways. Hopefully something will be resolved to make the pathway more negotiable by foot so that people can continue to use this pathway over to Foulby in a safe manner. Old Sharlston Cricket Club is continuing to search for the necessary funding for the planned new pavilion. The parish Council have pledged their support for the plans in the form of a letter to go to the various funding associations.
DISTRICT COUNCILLORS NOTICE: District Councillors Graham Isherwood and Richard Taylor would like to inform the people of Sharlston, new Sharlston and Streethouse that both councillors attend the coffee mornings at Sharlston Community Centre every Saturday morning from 10.20am onwards.
