COFFEE MORNING: St Luke’s Church will hold a coffee morning in Sharlston Community Centre tomorrow Saturday, November 26 from 10am to 11.30am. Stalls will include raffle, cakes, tombola, new and secondhand goods. Bring your family along and chat with friends. Children welcome. Proceeds in aid of Church funds.

GOLDEN OLDIE MUSIC: The villa club will hold a golden oldie music night and karaoke every second Saturday. The next one will be held on December 3.

SHARLSTON RUGBY: There were mixed fortunes for the teams last week – The first team had a good win 46:24. The A Team were winning well up to 75 minutes when the game was abandoned for fighting. This week both teams are away – The First team are away to Hunslett Old Boys in the semi final of the Yorkshire Cup. The A team are away to Ryhill Hammers in local cup action. Both games kick off at 2pm. In the clubhouse on Saturday night there will be a male vocalist Lucas Primmer.

SCHOOL NEWS: The school would like to thank everyone who collected the Cash for Schools vouchers from the Wakefield Express. With your help the school managed to collect tokens to the value of £51815. Our top collector was Brooke Woodcock with a total of £14520. She received a special prize for all her effort. The governing body is made up to 14 volunteers. There is a mixture of parents, members of the community and representatives of the school staff. For the past 2 years the school has maintained the full quota of 14 governors but now have vacancies for 2 community governors to join the team. If anyone is interested, or would like to know more about what this entails, please contact the head teacher Mrs Riley. A reminder to parents of Year 6 pupils that the final deadline for Secondary School applications is November 26. Please ensure that all forms are completed and submitted by this date.
