COFFEE MORNING: St Luke’s Church will hold a coffee morning in Sharlston Community Centre tomorrow Saturday, January 14 from 10am to 11.30am. Stalls will include raffle, cakes, tombola, new and second-hand goods. Proceeds in aid of church funds.

BUS PETITION: The petition to have the Sharlston evening bus service between Wakefield and Pontefract which runs along Weeland Road re-instated, is still ongoing. The petition sheets for this project are held in Sharlston Post Office. The sheets will be collected in by Wednesday, January 25.

DIY SHOP: A new DIY shop will be opening up soon in Sharlston in the premises which used to house the pharmacy.

80s NIGHT: Sharlston Villa Club will hold an 80s night on Saturday, January 14. Fancy dress expected for the night. Disco starts from 7pm. Last orders midnight.

SHARLSTON SCHOOL NEWS: Thank you to everyone who attended the school events in the run up to Christmas. It raised £148 from uts two raffles and we still have some unclaimed prizes so please check your tickets (yellow and green) as you may be a winner.

GOSSIP FROM THE POST OFFICE: Yes it is true that a member of the post office staff dresses up as Fred Flintstone and rides a cart during her spare time.
