COFFEE MORNING: St Luke’s Church will hold a coffee morning in Sharlston Community Centre tomorrow Saturday, January 21 from 10am to 11.30am. Stalls will include raffle, cakes, tombola, new and secondhand goods. Bring your family along and chat with friends. Children welcome. Proceeds in aid of Church funds.

BUS PETITION: The petition to have the Sharlston evening bus service between Wakefield and Pontefract which runs along our main Weeland Road re-instated, is still ongoing. The petition sheets for this project are held in Sharlston Post Office. If you have not already signed this petition, please come along to the Post Office and give your support as all the sheets will be collected in by Wednesday, January 25. Everyone’s support is needed on this.

SHARLSTON RUGBY: Both teams’ fixtures were postponed last weekend. The first team’s rearranged fixture will take place on Saturday, January 21 at home versus Upton. Kick off at 2pm. The A Team are without a game due to the last minute fixture shuffle. In the club house on Saturday night is a boy/girl duo Manmaid. The weekly lotto jackpot is now £900. Tickets are available at 50p a go from the Rugby Club – choose all six numbers from 1- 12. The draw takes place at 7pm on Sunday.

SHARLSTON SCHOOL NEWS: Complaints have been received from local residents and the Police about parking outside the school. If you are dropping off/collecting children from school by car then please try not to double park, park too near to junctions/crossing patrol or park on the pavement. Please ensure that the school have up-to-date emergency contact details. If you have recently moved house or changed your mobile number please let the school know. A reminder for all Year 6 parents that a SAT information meeting will be held on Friday, January 20 at 2.30pm.

SHARLSTON ANGLING CLUB: The Annual General Meeting will be held on February 2 at 7.30 prompt in the White Horse. Every welcome.
