FILM CLUB: Tonight, the monthly film club at St Peter’s Church Centre on Lake Lock Road will show The Lovely Bones adapted from Alice Sebold’s bestselling novel, and starring Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg and Saorise Ronan. Doors open 7pm, film starts at 7.30pm; free admission and tea and coffee; bring your own popcorn.

STANLEY METHODISTS: The preacher at the 10.30am service this Sunday, October 16 will be Rev A Jones. There will be a jumble sale on Wednesday, October 19 from 1.30pm, to raise funds to transport 42 Christmas boxes to children overseas. Donations of jumble for the sale will be gratefully received and can be left at the chapel.

ST PETER’S CHURCH: The 10am service next Sunday, October 23, will be a joint event with Mount Road Methodist Church to celebrate Bible Sunday, and the 400-year anniversary of the King James Bible.

PRAYER 4 STANLEY: Next week, Stanley Methodist Church and St Peter’s Church Centre will be delivering prayer cards to and praying for Lee Moor Road (odd numbers).

LADIES’ SOCIETY MEETING: The Ladies’ Society will be meeting on Wednesday, October 26, at 7pm in Stanley library. New members are always welcome to join this friendly group, which enjoys various speakers, outings and demonstrations throughout the year.

ONE WORLD WEEK: On Thursday, October 27 at 7.30pm there will be a special event at Zion Christian Centre on Aberford Road, organised by Christians Together in Stanley. Pastor David Dixon will talk about his visit to India last year when he and 12 others from Wakefield helped with the building of a community and vocational training centre. Light refreshments will be served.
