MOUNT ROAD CHAPEL: The speaker at the 10.30am service this Sunday, November 6 will be Mr J Sudworth. On Saturday, November 12 from 11am-3pm there will be a Christmas Fair at the chapel, with light lunches, cakes, craft stall, tombola and more.

READING GROUP: The evening reading group at Stanley Library will be meeting on Thursday, November 10 at 6.30pm. New members are always welcome. Please ask in the library for more details.

MOORHOUSE MEETING: The next meeting of the Moorhouse Community Action Group will be on Thursday, November 10 at 6pm at St Peter’s Church Centre on Lake Lock Road. Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in planning the new Moorhouse community centre.

FILM CLUB: Next Friday, November 11, the monthly film club at St Peter’s Church Centre on Lake Lock Road will be showing the romantic comedy ’50 First Dates’ starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Doors open 7pm, film starts at 7.30pm; free admission and tea and coffee; bring your own popcorn!

COFFEE MORNING: St Peter’s Church monthly coffee morning will be held next Saturday, November 12, from 10am-noon, at Stanley Community Centre with an excellent cake stall, tombola, raffle, greetings cards and refreshments. You can be assured of a very pleasant morning and a warm welcome.

PRAYER 4 STANLEY: Next week, Stanley Methodist Church and St Peter’s Church Centre will be delivering prayer cards to and praying for Moor Road.

BEETLE DRIVE: There will be a Beetle Drive at Lofthouse Methodist Church on Saturday, November 12 at 7pm. Tickets are £3 for adults and £2 for children, to include light refreshments. Everyone is very welcome to come along.

GOOD COMPANIONS: 19 members of the Good Companions enjoyed lunch at the Thatched House last Wednesday. The Bingo winners were I Morris, P Allsop, B Beckett, M Wright, M Robertshaw, M Bell, D Dawson, K Watkins, M Greenwood, D Highley and D Needham. The Members’ Draw was won by B Wilson, B Beckett and M Bell and the meat raffle was won by S Parkin and J Dixon.

ST PETER’S CHURCH CENTRE: Next Sunday, November 13, the 10am service will be a special Remembrance Sunday service attended by the uniformed organisation. Please come and join us as we remember the members of our armed forces who have lost their lives whilst protecting ours.

VICTORIAN FAIR: St Peter’s Church’s annual Victorian Fair will be held on Saturday November 19 at Stanley Community Centre from 10am-12:30pm. It is always a very popular event and as usual there will be lots of stalls including: cakes, toys, tombola, greetings cards, crafts, raffle, bottle stall, jewellery and many more. There will also be various refreshments.
