PANTOMIME TIME: St Peter’s family pantomime, ‘Sinbad and the Magic Jewel’ starts this next week. The matinee performances are sold out, and there are just a few tickets left for the 7.15pm evening performances, mostly on Monday November 28 and Tuesday 29. If you want to try and get a ticket, please call into the church office or telephone 835746. All performances are at St Peter’s Church Centre on Lake Lock Road.

LOFTHOUSE METHODIST CHURCH: Tomorrow, there will be a Christmas Fair and Gift Day at Lofthouse Methodist Church from 2.30pm, with various stalls and a buffet tea. The Lofthouse 2000 Band will be performing during the afternoon. The next day, on Sunday, November 27, there will be a Church Anniversary Service at 10.30am led by Rev Trevor Grewcock.

MOUNT ROAD CHAPEL: The speaker at the 10.30am service this Sunday, November 27 will be Miss M Dodd. The next coffee and chat meeting will be on December 7 from 2pm-4pm. Please come along for a coffee, cake and a friendly chat.

ST PETER’S CHURCH: The service this Sunday, November 27 will celebrate the start of Advent, and also the ten year anniversary of the congregation moving to the church centre. Following the service there will be a bring and share lunch to which everyone is invited.

MEET THE POLICE: The next Stanley PACT (Police and Communities together) meeting will be held in the Library, Lake Lock Road, on Tuesday, November 29 at 6pm. It is a great opportunity to meet your local Neighbourhood Policing Team and Councillors and discuss any issues in the Stanley area

PRAYER 4 STANLEY: Next week, Stanley Methodist Church and St Peter’s Church Centre will be delivering prayer cards to and praying for Canal Lane.

LITTLE HEROES: There will be a charity event at The Gardeners Arms on Leeds Road, Lofthouse, on Friday, December 2 in aid of Little Heroes which is a charity that supports local children and babies with cancer. The event will include Fire Walking, and the pub is keen for as many participants as possible to get involved. BOTTOMBOAT PLAYGROUND: To celebrate the opening of the new Bottomboat Playground, there will be a Christmas Fair on Sunday, December 4 from noon-3pm at the playground. There will be Santa’s grotto, craft and games stall, face painting, Christmas hamper raffle, tombola, carol singing, and lots of other festive treats.

STANLEY UNITED: Stanley United Football Club is currently recruiting players for all their Junior Teams: under-7’s through to the under-16’s age group. All our coaches are CRB checked and FA Qualified. Please call Timothy Felkin to arrange a free trial on 0795 077 7591.

GOOD COMPANIONS: Last Thursday, the members enjoyed an assortment of sandwiches followed by mince pies with brandy cream. The Bingo winners were D Highley, M Wright, B Beckett, J Dixon, P Allsop, B Robinson, I Morris, H Reynolds, K Watkins and M Greenwood. The Meat Raffle was won by B Beckett and J Luford.

OUTWOOD COMMUNITY VIDEO CLUB: Thanks to everyone who took part in the nostalgic walk last week. Despite the damp weather, 30 people came along and it was a very successful and enjoyable morning.
