FILM CLUB: Tonight, the film club at St Peter’s Church Centre will be showing A Beautiful Mind starring Russell Crowe. Doors open 7pm, film starts at 7.30pm, free admission, tea and coffee.

COFFEE MORNING: Tomorrow, St Peter’s Church monthly coffee morning will be held at Stanley Community Centre from 10am to noon with an excellent cake stall, tombola, raffle, greetings cards and refreshments.

CRAFTY KIDS: Tomorrow, there is a new monthly children’s craft afternoon at St Peter’s Church Centre, 2pm-3.30pm. The cost is £1.50 per child, with each additional sibling costing 50p. No booking required.

LEVI’S STAR: Tomorrow, there will be a Pocket Panto production of Jack and the Beanstalk at St Swithun’s Centre, Arncliffe Road, Eastmoor, at 7pm in aid of Levi’s Star. Tickets are £3.50. MOUNT ROAD METHODISTS: On Sunday, January 15 there will be the annual covenant service at Mount Road Methodist Chapel at 10.30am, led by Rev Tony Jones.

ST PETER’S CHURCH: There will be no morning service at St Peter’s on Sunday, January 15. Instead the congregation is invited to attend the joint service at 10.30am at Mount Road Methodist Chapel.

CHRISTINGLE: On Sunday, January 15 at St Peter’s Church Centre there will be very popular Christingle services for all ages, at 4pm and 6.30pm. These services are in conjunction with the Children’s Society.

STANLEY UNITED: Stanley United U9s isy looking for new players. Training is on Saturday mornings and matches are played on Sundays. For further information please contact Tim on 01924 824140.

STANLEY YOUTH: If any teenagers have any ideas about what would make Stanley a better place for them, they can e-mail me and I will pass their comments on to the group of local schools, churches, councillors and youth workers who are hoping to improve facilities for young people in our area.

GOOD COMPANIONS: Bingo winners last week were B Bell, I Morris, D Needham, D Highley, M Robertshaw, B Robinson, M Scholefield and O Thackray. The meat raffle was won by J Dixon and J Luford and members’ draw was won by D Needham, I Luford and S Parkin.

THANK YOU: The ‘Carols Around the Tree’ event at Lofthouse Millennium Green on Sunday, December 18 was a great success: the collection and raffle raised £132.31 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the committee would like to thank everyone who took part.
