CHRIST CHURCH LOFTHOUSE: Tomorrow, there will be a garden party from 2pm to 4pm in the church grounds. There will be a variety of stalls, and a chance to meet the new vicar, Mandy Rhodes.
STANLEY METHODISTS: The service at 10.30am this Sunday, July 24 will be led by David Dixon. On Wednesday, August 3 there will be a coffee and cake meeting from 2pm. The recent jumble sale raised a useful £111. Many thanks to everyone who supported it. Last week during the Sunday morning service, the church welcomed Emily Rose Ineson and her family for her baptism.
HEALTHY EATING EVENT: Next Tuesday, July 26 from 2.30pm to 4pm there will be a healthy eating event for families at Stanley Community Centre. Drop in and have a go at healthy food making and tasting, fun games and quizzes, and have a look at some recipes, kitchen equipment and ingredients.
GOOD COMPANIONS: Last week’s bingo winners were J Dixon, I Morris, C Macfarland, M Bell, I Luford, J Farrar, M Robertshaw, I Lane and D Highley. The members’ draw was won by I Luford, M Wright and M Robertshaw and the meat raffle was won by L Wilcox and P Allsop.
PACT MEETING: The next PACT meeting will be held next Wednesday, July 27 at 6pm at Stanley Community Centre.
COMMUNITY CENTRE SOCIAL EVENTS: Every Tuesday and Friday there is dancing at the community centre from 1.30pm to 4pm. On the first Saturday of each month there is a social dance night from 7.30pm to 10pm, offering a variety of dancing for £2.50. Also, every Thursday, there is a coffee morning from 10am to noon. These events are organised by the Friends of Stanley Community Centre.
WII FIT SUMMER CHALLENGE: Every Thursday at 10am during the summer holidays, Stanley Library is holding a Wii Fit summer challenge. Contact the library to book your family’s fun session on the Wii.
FREE SUMMER COOKING CLUB: The Generation Xchange Project is running a healthy eating cooking club for children to attend with grandparents or family members over 50. The sessions will take place at Stanley Community Centre on Monday, August 1, August 8, August 15 and August 22, from 10am to 12.30pm. All ingredients and equipment provided. CAR BOOT SALE: Wakefield Chantry Rotary Club will be holding a car boot sale at Kingsland School, Aberford Road, on Sunday, August 7 from 7am to noon, £10 per vehicle and all money raised from the sale of pitches will benefit Rotary charities.
