UNWANTED CHRISTMAS PRESENTS: If anyone has any unwanted Christmas presents, Candlelighters Charity is collecting for its charity auction 2012. Please contact me and I will pass them on. Over £5,000 was raised at the 2011 auction and with your help the charity can beat that target.

SURGERY: Betty Liles and Annemarie Glover, local councillors for Wrenthorpe, Alverthorpe, Outwood and Kirkhamgate will hold their monthly surgery in the Valley Crescent Centre tomorrow morning, from 10.30am to 11.30am.

ST ANNE’S: On Sunday the parish eucharist is at 10am. Children will meet in the church hall and light refreshments will be served at the end of the service. On Wednesday communion is at 9.15am followed by refreshments with the church remaining open until noon.

WRENTHORPE METHODIST CHURCH: All age worship takes place on Sunday at 10am, when Paul Hayes is preaching. 

JUBILEE DAY: The community association is holding a celebration event at the village hall and surrounding area, perhaps extending to the recreation ground, to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee The weekend of celebrations throughout the country is from Saturday, June 2 to Tuesday, June 5. The association would like to invite all the various groups in Wrenthorpe to get together and join in the fun with a stall or game. All ideas welcome. WEST YORKSHIRE POLICE: There is a community consultation event regarding the West Yorkshire Police PFI building project at Carr Gate. This event gives members of the public the opportunity to speak directly to the designers of the proposed schemes, view the detailed designs and provide comments. There will also be an update on the progress of the project. This is to be held Monday, January 23 at 7pm in Kirkhamgate Village Hall.
