Book opens your eyes to police corruption
If you ever thought that the police were here to help you then you need to read this book. The sub heading of this book is Dirty Cops, Bent Justice and Racism in Scotland Yard, and it's a real eye-opener.
The story is written by two investigative journalists who won scoop of the year award which also led to Carleton TV being fined 2million for making fake documentaries, so this sort of thing is right up their street and gives the reader a fantastic insight into police corruption at his best.
I've been witness to police incompetence, officers telling lies to cover the fact that they don't have a clue and when it's reported it gets covered up or you get fobbed off by an inspector who tries to tell you that the law the officers made up actually exists. But I never thought for one minute that corruption was any more than simple stupidity and cover-ups. Well, this book not only tells us, but proves corruption on the highest level, and at the most famous police station in the world.. Scotland Yard.
It tells us of how some officers would arrest criminals and pocket the proceeds of the crime, of how the officers would fit up suspects, often innocent victims who they didn't like or colleagues who wouldn't go along with the corruption.
We see compelling evidence of the sheer mass of corruption from the ones who are supposed to protect the innocent and the way in which complaints are brushed to one side and stonewalled in their tracks.
I assure you that reading this book will open your eyes to what really goes on, giving even greater rise to that old Latin phrase first written by the Roman poet Juvanel "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Which translated means "Who will guard the guards
themselves?"
