ST JAMES’ CHURCH: There will be a harvest festival eucharist at the church on September 11, from 10.30am. At 6pm there will be evensong and benediction. Coffee and cakes are on sale every Friday from 10am in the St James Centre.

HAVERCROFT PARISH COUNCIL: The next meeting of Havercroft-with-Cold Hiendley Parish Council will be held in Havercroft and Ryhill Community Learning Centre on Wednesday September 14, at 7pm.

FOLK DANCE: Ryhill Folk Dance Group meet on Mondays at the Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Street, Ryhill. Sessions are from 1pm to 3pm and cost £2.50. No partners required, just come along and enjoy. For further details contact Sylvia Peacock, secretary, on 01226 726713.

WALTON METHODIST CHURCH: The preacher on Sunday at 10.30am will be Peter Bolton. On Tuesday, open door coffee is from 10am to 11.30am. On Wednesday, Craft Class is from 9.30am to noon.

LIFEBOATS: After last year’s very successful evening, Walton Branch RNLI holds a murder mystery evening tomorrow at 7.30pm in Walton Village Hall, School Lane, presented by the St Austin Players. Tickets are £7 including hot supper. For further details contact Anne on 01924 257458.

FRIENDS OF HAW PARK WOOD: The next meeting will be a litter-picking activity day in the wood on Sunday, September 18.  Meet by the Discovery Centre, Anglers Country Park at 11am.

WAKEY WAKEY: Walton Community Centre would like to thank the organisers and people who supported and attended the Wakey Wakey Rally held at the centre on September 2 and 3. This is the seventh year of the event, once again it was a great success raising much need money for charities including Wakefield Hospice.
