POLICE have put two cannabis farms out of business.

Officers found 59 plants being grown in a bedroom on West Lane in Sharlston and a further 17 plants at a property on Queen Elizabeth Drive in Normanton.

They were both found during searches of properties yesterday (Tuesday) morning.

Officers from the Normanton neighbourhood police team (NPT) helped officers from South Yorkshire Police search the house in Sharlston after a man was arrested on suspicion of carrying out scrap metal thefts.

Two men were arrested in connection with the drugs and the thefts and have been released on bail.

The owner of the house in Normanton was arrested on suspicion of theft and bailed.

He was cautioned for growing the drugs.
