Appeal after 'frightening' robbery of young woman

Police are appealing for information after incident, which took place just off Park Lodge Lane on Wednesday, May 25.

It took place at about 8.30am after the victim, a 24-year-old-woman, was walking from the city centre and up a ginnel which leads to Park Lodge Lane.

While walking she was approached from behind by two men, one of whom grabbed at her and demanded her bag.

She was then pushed over by the suspects who ran off with her handbag.

The first suspect was white, 5ft 9ins tall with a goatee beard, wearing a black bobble hat, black tracksuit bottoms, dark coloured top and gloves

The second man was also white, 6ft 3ins tall, with mousey brown/blonde hair wearing a green coat with the hood up and stone island light blue jeans.

Detective Inspector Tim Hunt of Wakefield District CID, said: "This was clearly a very frightening ordeal for the victim and we are appealing for information to trace these two men.

"Anyone who saw the robbery, has information, or who saw two men fitting these descriptions running from Park Lodge Lane with a handbag should contact Wakefield CID on 101.

"Information can also be given anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111."
