Armed robbers brandishing a knife and crowbar stole money in a raid at a Ryhill store.

Police said two men burst into Nisa Local on Mill Lane at around 9.30pm on Sunday.

They threatened staff in the store before stealing cash from a safe.

Both men then fled the scene.

The men were described as around 5ft 10in tall, in their early 30s and had local accents.

They were dressed in all back and one man was wearing a pink scarf over his face.

Det Insp Dave Rogerson, of Wakefield CID, said: “We are appealing for information about this offence in which the victims were threatened with weapons.

“Whilst no-one was hurt this was clearly a very traumatic experience for them both and they were both left understandably distressed by what occurred.”

Anyone with information should call Wakefield CID on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
