Police have warned people not to leave their engines running and unattended when defrosting their cars.
A car was stolen from outside a house on Clifford Avenue on Tuesday morning, November 19.
The owner had left the engine of his vehicle running to defrost it when it was taken.
Sgt Mark Beet, of the Central neighbourhood police team, said: “People should keep their car secure at all times - even if they are standing nearby as it defrosts or just nipping back into the house to collect something. You only need to turn your back for a few seconds for a thief to make off with your vehicle.
“Some insurance companies will also refuse to pay out so it is even more important that you keep your vehicle locked and secure.”
