An elderly couple’s home was ransacked by three bogus workmen.

They barged into the house on Windhill Road, Eastmoor, at 1.55pm yesterday (Monday).

One of the men kept an 86-year-old woman in the kitchen while the other two searched the home.

Her 89-year-old husband was in the living room at the time.

The men, who pretended to be council workmen, then ran off with Post Office cards and cash.

All three intruders were wearing orange coloured workman style jackets.

The Central neighbourhood police team has put extra officers in the area to reassure people.
