Yobs threw bright blue paint into a duck pond in Normanton’s Haw Hill Park.

Council bosses launched a clean up of the pond after the vandalism was spotted last Wednesday and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

It was reported after a woman walking her dogs spotted a slick of oil on the surface of the water and splashes
of blue paint on the steps to the pond.

Maureen Cummings, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for the environment and communities, said: “We received reports that paint had been thrown at Haw Hill Park in Normanton and we immediately cleared up the pond the surrounding paths.

“We do not tolerate this type of mindless vandalism. It is damaging to our local environment and costs the council time and money, which could otherwise be spent on much needed services. We urge anyone who has any information to call the police on 101, or the council contact centre on 0845 8 506 506.”
