A bus driver needed an emergency hip replacement after being injured while trying to break up a fight.
The 64-year-old man intervened during an altercation outside Passion Bar, on Silver Street, at around 11.30pm on Saturday, November 9.
Police believe he tried to split up the fight but was seriously injured in the process.
The man underwent surgery today (Monday).
Insp Richard Clare said: “The gentleman was walking past after having a night out and seen a fight outside Passion Bar and went across to split it up.
“The next thing he knows he is on the floor and has a lot of pain in his hip.
“He is not sure whether he has slipped, or been punched. The injury has occurred after he has made contact with the floor.
“There is some suggestion he was hit.”
Police would like to speak to a man in his 20s, with short dark hair and was wearing a cream T-shirt.
Anyone with any information should contact police on 101.
