Police have launched the biggest drugs operation in Wakefield this decade.

After gathering intelligence on street level dealers and their suppliers police have carried out a series of dawn raids across the city during the past five days.
So far almost 40 people have been arrested.

And police are warning that this major operation is far from over.

Chief Superintendent Simon Whitehead District Commander of Wakefield Police, added: “Police in Wakefield are making a real effort to restrict the supply of drugs in the district and put pressure on those who think it is acceptable to deal them.

“I hope the scale of this arrest phase will demonstrate to residents that we will not tolerate those who think it is acceptable to deal in their communities.”

Anyone with any information should police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
