A woman who died after her car was involved in a crash with an ambulance has been named by police.

Clara Barras, 56, was left seriously injured after her VW Golf collided with an ambulance on Doncaster Road, on Sunday, October 20.

Since then she had remained in a critical condition at Leeds General Infirmary, where she died on Friday.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust said it was assisting police with their ongoing inquiries.

A spokeswoman added: “At the time of the collision the ambulance was responding to an emergency call.

“As soon as the incident was reported we immediately deployed another resource to the original emergency call to avoid any delay.

“We are very sorry to hear that an occupant of the vehicle has sadly died and wish to offer our sincere condolences to her family and friends.”

Any witnesses should call police on 101.
