Police are trying to trace this man in connection with a robbery on an 82-year-old woman in her own home in Outwood on Saturday.

The victim had returned to her house on Springhill Close, at about 10.40am on Saturday, when a man barged his way into her home and stole her purse. The woman wrestled with the intruder and scratched his face but the man overpowered her. He ran off towards Ledger Lane.

Police believe the thief might have followed her back to her home after she visited a shop on Potovens Lane.

Detective Constable Bryn Hampshire, of Wakefield District CID, said: “As part of our ongoing enquiries in to this incident we have worked with the victim to create this e-fit image.

“If you were in the area around the time of this offence and saw a man of similar appearance then we are interested in speaking to you.

“Alternatively, if you believe you know the identity of the man pictured then please give us a call.”

Anyone with information should call Wakefield CID on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
