Police are searching for a 16-year-old girl who has been missing for more than a week.

Leah Gates was last seen at 5.30pm on Wednesday, February 4 at Wakefield College.

Police are concerned for the welfare of Miss Gates, who is originally from Wakefield and Featherstone.

She now lives in Huddersfield but police say she could still be in the Wakefield area.

Miss Gates is 5ft 5ins tall, of stocky build, with blonde shoulder-length hair which she tends to wear tied up in a bun.

She was last seen wearing a blue zip-up hoodie, black leggings and pumps.

PC Karen Truelove, of West Yorkshire Police’s missing persons unit, said: “While the last confirmed sighting of Leah was over a week ago, she had been keeping daily contact with her carers.

“This contact has stopped over the last few days and we would urge anyone who has seen Leah or who has information about her whereabouts to call the Missing Persons Unit at Dewsbury Police Station on 101.”
