A teenager fought off three thugs who tried to steal his mobile phone and cash.

The 15-year-old boy was approached by three men on Avondale Street in Wakefield at around 7.45pm on Monday.

The men demanded he hand over his mobile phone and cash and attempted to push the teenager to the floor.

He was able to resist and then ran away from the men.

Police have released an e-fit of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

DC Cain Bamforth, of Wakefield District CID, said: “We are appealing for witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who recognises the e-fit of the man.

“The victim was fortunately not injured but clearly this would have been a frightening experience for him and we are anxious to locate the men responsible.”

Anyone with information should call Wakefield CID on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
