A six-year-old girl was cut free from a car during a road safety demonstration by firefighters.
A crew from Wakefield Blue Watch used power tools to remove the roof of a car to rescue Portia Abram, from St John’s.
The demonstration was part of a Stay Safe Event in the Cathedral Precinct today (Friday).
The team from Wakefield Fire Station were joined by police and staff from Wakefield Council and the Highways Agency.
Motorists were shown how to drive more safely and displays included a wrecked car that was involved in a crash plus a seat belt sledge to show the consequences of not wearing seat belts.
