POLICE raided an illegal drugs farm after a tip-off from a keen-nosed passer-by.
The distinct aroma of cannabis could be smelt outside the house on Thompson Drive, in Wrenthorpe.
Inside officers found ten plants of the class B drug as well as hydroponic growing equipment.
A man, in his early 30s, was interviewed and given a police caution on Tuesday.
Insp Jo Mercer, of the North West neighbourhood police team (NPT)
, said: “Illegal drug use within our communities will not be tolerated.
“In this particular instance my team were acting upon community intelligence.
“I would encourage any member of the community who suspects offences are occurring to please contact their local NPT and together we will continue to pro-actively tackle these issues.”
Tell-tale signs someone could be growing cannabis illegally include a sweet pungent smell, bags of fertiliser being brought into a house, curtains drawn throughout the day, noisy fans whirring away all day, and visitors arriving late at night and early in the morning.
