People will be able to fly to the USA and Canada from Leeds Bradford airport for the first time.

jet2.com will begin operating direct flights to New York, Boston and Toronto in the spring next year.

Steve Heapy, chief executive officer of jet2.com and jet2holidays, said: “We are thrilled to be the very first holiday company to give people direct access to these exciting transatlantic destinations from Leeds.

“They are amazing places to visit with a host of iconic sites and attractions including Fenway Park – historic home of the Boston Red Sox baseball team – Niagara Falls and the Empire State building.

“The addition of these three routes reinforces our commitment to offering our local customers an unrivalled choice of great value breaks to a wide range of exciting European and international destinations direct from their doorstep.”
