A large 3D maze opens today in the grounds of the Orangery and organisers hope it will become a “must see” during the summer months.

International artist Richard Woods has created a labyrinth for visitors to explore called ‘A Maze for Yorkshire’.

At the centre of the 10sqm structure is a performance space, to be used by community groups, students, amateurs, and professionals. And it will be the central point for some of the more quieter, acoustic and folk artsists performingtomorrow and Sunday as part of Long Division Festival.

The project, backed by Arts Council England and Wakefield Council, was commissioned by owners Beam.

Cultural director Robert Powell, pictured, said it is “a delightful and welcome surprise” for everyone to enjoy. JG1a_3680
