Firefighters rescue man from car UPDATE

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a car crash after a vehicle ended up on its roof on the Normanton bypass.

A 42-year-old man was rescued by firefighters after the smash at around 5.40am yesterday (Monday).

The incident involved a blue Mazda 6 on the A655, at the junction with the B6133 Snydale Road.

Police believe the Mazda was travelling from the Castleford direction towards Wakefield, when it collided with the central reservation, rolled over and ended up on the opposite side of the road.

Fire crews from Normanton, Castleford and Featherstone attended the incident.

A man was taken to Pinderfields Hospital with serious injuries, but they were not thought to be life threatening.
