DRIVERS have been warned to take extra care on water logged roads as the city remains on flood alert.

The Environment Agency said alerts are still in place for Ings Beck, Alverthorpe Beck, Balne Beck and Oakenshaw Beck today.

The Met Office has also warned more light rain could fall this afternoon.

Graham West, Highways Network Manager at Wakefield Council, said: “Council teams have been on standby whilst the flood warnings have been in place and have been working hard to keep major roads accessible where possible.

“No major flooding incidents have been reported. Our advice to drivers is to avoid any flood water and find alternative routes where possible if a road is flooded.”
