A BOG standard award gave staff at a branch of McDonald’s a brush with success.
McDonald’s franchisee Anne Wainwright, who runs the Dewsbury Road restaurant, said she and her staff were flush with excitement after winning a five star loo of the year award.
Regarded as the Oscars of the public convenience world, the independent Loo of the Year Awards are supported by the British Toilet Association and have been identifying the best toilets in Britain since 1987.
Ms Wainwright said: “Lots of people pop in to use our toilets and we like to make sure they are spotless, but they are also very trendy and environmentally friendly too.”
The toilets were judged by a mystery shopper after Miss Wainwright applied to take part in the award scheme last year.
She said: “I have no idea who it was, or when they came and I think that’s a very fair way of doing it.
“Dirty toilets can put people off a restaurant, so they are just as important as every other aspect of the business and we are delighted to have won this award.”
Entrants were judged on a wide range of criteria, including signage, décor, fixtures and fittings, air quality as well as overall standards of cleanliness and management.
