DETECTIVES are quizzing four men on suspicion of money laundering as part of an on-going financial investigation involving city pubs, clubs and a take-away.

Raids were carried out on several Westgate night spots and a house on Plumpton Road this morning.

High value cars including a Range Rover and BMW were seized by officers.

Two men, aged 34 and 31, from Wakefield, a 42-year-old man from Barnsley and a 34-year-old man from Leeds are all being quizzed by detectives.

Chief Supt Marc Callaghan, Wakefield District Police Divisional Commander, said: “We will take firm action against those people suspected of living off the proceeds of crimes they have committed in local communities.

“We always act on information given to us by our communities and I would appeal to them to continue to contact us - if you suspect someone is making a living from crime - let us know, we will act.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 101
