GANGS of youths have been throwing snowballs at traffic.
The youngsters were reported by concerned families in Normanton after several incidents near Castleford Road.
Officers from Normanton neighbourhood police team (NPT) said they had been called to various reports of snowballs being thrown in the town over the weekend.
But Insp Lisa Kirkland has warned residents to think twice before reporting such incidents to the police.
She said: “Anybody who is being targeted as part of ongoing anti-social behaviour should obviously report such incidents to the police.
“But if it is a genuine one-off snowball being thrown, then people need to consider whether calling the police is appropriate, especially when we are stretched at this time of year.”
Officers were on patrol near Haw Hill Park, in Normanton, on Friday to deal with “nuisance snowballers”.
