A FAIRYTALE was brought to life at Netherton J&I School this week.
Children in nursery and reception classes have been learning all about Jack and the Beanstalk.
And the youngsters were mesmerised when they got a visit from harpist Kathryn Mason, who they believed to be a friend of the giant from the story.
The 16-year-old, who is a former pupil, wowed them with her golden harp playing skills, and even played Happy Birthday for two of them.
Nursery teacher Leigh Douglas, said: “The children were absolutely fascinated. They had learnt that Jack had pinched the giant’s harp, and we told them Kathryn was a friend who had a spare one. They were asking her all about the giant, including what his favourite colour was and what he likes to eat for breakfast.”
