A drop-in centre has been opened at Pinderfields Hospital as part of improvements to the complaints and advice services for patients.
The new centre was opened last Thursday to help people access the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust, which runs Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury hospitals.
It is based on Level C at Pinderfields and offers face-to-face contact with the PALS team without booking an appointment.
Helen Hey, assistant chief nurse at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “Needing hospital treatment can be an emotional and stressful time for people.
“A hospital can also be a confusing place to navigate your way around.
“That’s why PALS are so important. They offer people someone to turn to when they need help, have a problem or just want someone to talk to.
“We’ve now introduced the drop-in centre which is proving really popular with people.
“They are finding it a more friendly and accessible way to comment on services, raise any concerns and compliment staff who have provided excellent care.”
The drop-in service is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
PALS team manager Caroline Jowett said: “Many problems can be resolved at the time things crop up.
“We know a lot of issues relate to a lack of information or a breakdown in communications.
