Pharmacy opening times for New Year’s Day have been announced.
NHS bosses said advice and treatments were available while GP surgeries are closed. And people can avoid unnecessary trips to hospital by seeking help from a pharmacist.
Sainsbury’s at Trinity Walk will be open from 10am-5pm.
Asda, on Asdale Road, will be open from 11am-4pm and Exel Chemist, on High Street, Normanton, will be open from 10am-2pm.
Hughes Chemist, at Rycroft Primary Care Centre, on Madeley Road, Havercroft, will be open from 9am-11am.
Asda, on Leeds Road, Glass Houghton, will be open from 11am-4pm.
Eggborough Pharmacy, at Ash Grove Medical Centre, England Lane, Knottingley, will be open from noon-2pm tomorrow.
Dr Paul Twomey, medical director at NHS England in Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “Pharmacists offer expert, confidential advice and treatment for many minor health problems.”
“As most GP surgeries will be closed on New Year’s Day we would also encourage patients to plan ahead and order any routine medication they need in plenty of time.”
