THE Hepworth Wakefield has been shortlisted for a national architecture award.

The £35m gallery is one of six buildings in the running for this year’s Stirling Prize by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

There is a £20,000 prize for the winner, which will be announced at an event in Manchester on October 13.

London’s Olympic stadium, Belfast’s Lyric Theatre, Maggie’s cancer centre, in Glasgow, the Sainsbury laboratory, in Cambridge, and the New Court Rothschild Bank, in London, are the others on the list.
