RULE-BREAKING parents at Walton Primary School can soon expect to get ‘parking fines’ from their children.

Youngsters from the school council have launched a crackdown on inconsiderate parents who are putting lives at risk on the school run.

They went out and about with police on Wednesday to issue warnings to parents who were blocking residents’ driveways, parked on grass verges, wrongly in disabled bays or even dropping children off in the school car park which is not allowed.

But next week the same parents can expect to be slapped with parking tickets made by the children that will request a £5 donation to school council funds in a bid to prick the culprits’ consciences.

Headteacher Kathryn Nash said: “It’s something we’ve been battling since well before the new school opened and the children feel very strongly about it.

“It’s very frustrating because the safety of the children is paramount and if people are parking dangerously then it’s not safe, and no one wants there to be an accident.”
